SINCERELY, SYD

Sincerely Syd Ceramics is a Virginia Beach born ceramics studio founded by Sydney, potter and owner drawn to the creative freedom that pottery allows.

Inspired by the slow creation of functional art, Sincerely Syd Ceramics offers custom, wholesale, and small-batch production ceramics for everyday use - pottery meant to be used, shared, gathered around, and passed down for generations.

Sincerely Syd Ceramics offers ready to ship pieces as well as preordered collections, custom requests, and batched production work for personal tables and small business kitchens and storefronts.

Sydney enjoys working closely with customers to personally design and create custom pieces that reflect a brand’s voice or individual’s vision through intimate design detail. Her work celebrates one-of-a-kind imperfections that can never be replicated and make each piece stand out as individuals. She hopes your pieces encourage nostalgia, slow living, memory making, and a specially curated kitchen.

FAQ

The glaze has tiny cracks, is this a defect?

Tiny, spiderweb-like cracks in your glaze is a common occurrence in pottery - it is called crazing. Crazing happens in the kiln after the pieces begin to cool. Sometimes the glaze and the clay will cool at different rates, resulting in crazing. The piece is absolutely food safe and defected. Occasionally dark liquids like coffee can stain the cracks and make them more obvious, in this case I recommend dishwashing on high heat. But rest assured your piece is still considered structurally sound and it will not lead to actual cracks in your pottery. For questions or concerns regarding this pottery quirk please contact us!

Are your pieces dishwasher safe?

Yes! Ceramics are fired to 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. This means they are very safe in the oven, microwave, and dishwasher. I do however recommend handwashing for mugs with handles as they are susceptible to breaking if bumped against other dishes. Please keep in mind handwashing can also extend the life of cups/ dishes with particularly delicate rims.

What is “handmade charm?”

Each piece is made slowly and intentionally, by hand. They undergo a weeks long creation process with many steps and opportunities for variation to occur. No two will be exactly the same, that is part of the charm to choose handmade! The high heat of the kiln can cause color variation and can be very unpredictable. If you are ever unhappy with the amount of handmade charm in your order, please reach out and we can discuss options!

Do you offer wholesale?

I absolutely do! Head to my Contact page to inquire. Wholesale requests will be considered on a case by case basis, dependent on my current production schedule. If I am unable to start right away, I will be happy to begin the design process with an understanding that I will begin your project as soon as my schedule opens. Wholesale pricing will be discussed in our initial conversation.

Do you require a deposit for custom/ wholesale?

Yes, a non-refundable retainer of 50% of total project cost is due before work will begin. I am very happy to be flexible throughout the process to create exactly what you want. Unfortunately retainers will not be refunded. When a project is approved, your estimated timeline is based on existing orders and vice versa. I then will not take on more projects that would affect your production timeline. If your project is cancelled during the process I am unable to book projects that I had turned down. I will work with you to reschedule a new project in the event something doesn’t work out, and we can retain your deposit for use towards a new one. This policy protects my time and production schedule, and I will happy meet any kind request with mutual understanding and respect.

What is your shipping policy?

Items are shipped by USPS. Cost and delivery are dependent on travel distance and weight and size. The customer is responsible for all taxes in addition to the flat fee shipping charge. Please allow up to 7 business for your order to be shipped.

Do you ship internationally?

I currently only ship within the United States and Canada, to include territories and APO destinations. For specific international shipping questions please get in touch and we can discuss options.

My package was lost in transit, what do I do?

Sincerely Syd Ceramics is not responsible for lost or stolen packages after it is in possession of the carrier. You can always file a claim with your tracking number through USPS.

Do you accept returns?

All items are final sale. If your item arrives damaged please contact us within 48 hours of your delivery! Include photos and relevant details and I will work with you on a solution!

I bought my piece weeks ago, and it has broken! Do you accept quality control returns?

Your piece is highly durable, as far as ceramics can be, and should not break from standard daily use. However, due to the nature of handmade ceramics, there can be unseen defects from the throwing process or drying process that show themselves some time after creation. If you have an unexpected break please email us with clear photos and details of how you found it and we can find a solution!
